We ended up filming the trailer for Big Cat Rescue in June. It is being done for International TV, my pitch being it's like the Osbourne's with tigers and lons. Ronel and her kids Chrissie and Steve, plus the feline family, are the stars.
Then Jeffrey Fleishman from the Los Angeles Times came to AD to do an article about me being an American woman in the entertainment business in the Middle East.
While he was here, I took him to AD Wildlife Center to see the place. Jeffrey ended up doing this piece for the LA Times on Ronel. Enjoy!

I wish you well with your project but hope that you won't be promoting big cats as pets. After 15 years of rescuing big cats from people who saw Sigfried and Roy and thought they could do it too, I just cringe when I hear there is going to be a big cat film about captive cats. I read your other post with interest, as I had never heard of Ronel or AD. I do hope the program does not show a lot of touching, petting, etc., because it doesn't matter how much you say, "Do as I say and not as I do," people will go out and fuel the exotic pet trade after seeing anything that makes it look possible.

Once the cats get past a certain age, they are not handled. As many come in that are young and are still on a bottle, they have to be handled, there is no choice.
The message is leave them in the wild. In a perfect world, this would be the case...but we don't live in a perfect world. Without the ADWC taking in these cats, many would be dead.
They end up in a place where they are cared for. Some cats, like the Arabian leopard, which are almost extinct, are bred as well. The show will get the idea out there that we need to protect these animals and leave them in their habitat.
